Updated. Two wood carved masks, the larger, believed to depict a Dharmapala (a wrathful god), exhibits traces of yellow paint, mostly prevalent around the eyes and in the nooks and crannies of the teeth, suggests it was at one point more heavily coated and detailed. Remnants of a wax export stamp are to be found on the inside of the mask. This piece measures approximately 10" high, 7 1/2" wide and 4" deep. The smaller piece, possibly depicting Parvati or Kali, exhibits a bit of wear to the finish on the left side of the face and a mostly intact wax export stamp stamped in the brow's center. This piece measures approximately 9" high, 7" wide and 4 1/4" deep. Both pieces exhibit wear consistent with age in the form of scratches, scuffs and dings throughout (in addition to any aforementioned deficiencies) and feature single sets of bore holes to affix straps for wearing.
