Collection of 11 Navajo sand paintings by Roger Ned Tsosie (American [Navajo], 1937 - 2015) and Irene Tsosie (American [Navajo], 1945 - 2002). Colored sand on particle board, some with leather framing. Sandpaintings (iikaah) are used in the Navajo tradition to call upon the spiritual world and the Holy People (Yeibicheii) to cure an ill person. Paintings include 8 Yei Dancers in two styles (traditional Male and female Yei and Nightway Yei), one picture of two Nightway Yei dancers, a Thunderbird, and an image of the world with Four Crops. Good condition, minor wear. From 5 1/2" by 9 1/2" to 16 1/2" by 16 1/2".
