Unsigned Old Master oil on canvas painting of two women with a guitar. Likely 19th century, in the 17th century Spanish Baroque style. The women wear period clothing. The woman on the left holds a guitar (or another stringed instrument, possibly a lute) and looks back directly at the viewer. The woman on the right leans forward, toward the first woman with her hand on her shoulder. She too looks directly at the viewer. The background of the painting is a neutral tone. The style of this painting likely draws from Baroque paintings from Spain, from the likes of Diego Velazquez (1599 - 1660) and Bartolome Esteban Murillo (1617 - 1682). The painting is well executed, with great attention to detail given to the faces and heads of the two ladies. Framed in gold painted frame. Condition: good overall, some aging and wear as expected, slightly darkened varnish, the outlines of the stretcher are visible from the front of the painting under light. Canvas is also backed by a board. Overall, a beautiful painting. Canvas is 19" wide by 16 1/4" tall, frame is 26 3/8" wide by 23 3/8" tall.
