Bronze sculpture of an eagle by noted French animalier sculptor Jules Moigniez (1835 - 1894). This is an older casting of Moigniez's eagle, laikely dating to the late 19th - early 20th century. Moigniez shows an eagle either alighting or taking off from a stump of a branch. There is exquisite detail in the feathers of the wings and back, possibly indicating this piece's status as an earlier edition. Patinated bronze with copper on beak. On a marble base. Signed "J. Moigniez" in cursive on the bronze ground, below the eagle. Condition: excellent. Measurements: 29 1/8" tall by 18 3/4" wide.
