Antique pewter model of a Rococo shell ship. Dutch or German, mid 18th century. Inscribed on sail “Zum Angedenken Louise von Stern 1764” or “In Memory of Louise von Stern 1764”. This fantasy ship has Rococo elements of the period throughout and is placed on a stand with cattails. Tiny figures of sailors stand on deck. This is a unique and fascinating sculpture from the Rococo period. Pewterer’s mark on the rudder with an angel and a stag. Condition: good overall, with patina, wear as expected, one figure is missing and his feet remain. Minor dents and marks. Measurements: 16” tall by about 12” wide.
