Set of three volumes (dated 1784) comprising the entirety of "A Voyage to the Pacific Ocean. Undertaken by the Command of His Majesty, for Making Discoveries in the Northern Hemisphere to Determine the Position and Extent of the West Side of North America; it's Distance from Asia; and the Practicability of a Northern Passage to Europe. Performed Under the Direction of Captains Cook, Clerke, and Gore, in His Majesty's Ships the Resolution and Discovery. In the Years 1776, 1777, 1778, 1779, and 1780." The first two volumes are written by Cook while the third is by James King. Printed by W. and A. Strahan for G. Nicol and T. Cadell, booksellers in The Strand. Includes Table of Contents, Introduction, Inscription to Memory of James Cook, List of Plates (as originally published) and Appendixes. Volume I comprises 421 pages, Volume II: 549 pages and Volume III: 559 pages. Number of plates present in Volume I: 7 (of 24), Volume II: 10 (of 39) and Volume III: 6 (of 24). It appears the illustrations were extracted from the original publishing, leaving only maps behind. The bound portions each measure approximately 9" x 11" with widths approximately 1 3/4". Presented in later day backings with replacement spines that are in poor condition with fully or very nearly detached covers across all three volumes. Of note: the spines numbered 2 and 3 actually contain the opposite tome. The content of the books themselves are in fair condition with foxing, toning, staining, bowing and some wormholes present on the pages throughout. It shall be the potential buyer's sole responsibility to research and satisfy the requirements of any laws and regulations that apply to the import and export of property and for paying all shipping costs, customs and duties on the items.
