Two Japanese woodblock prints by noted sosaku-hanga artist Toshi Yoshida (Japanese, 1911 - 1995). One is "Silver Pavilion - Kyoto" and the other "Akiba Shrine". 1951. Pencil signed by Yoshida. Yoshida's approach in these two works is different from traditional woodblock prints in his use of more subtle changes in color and shading, and a more naturalistic style. Both prints are matted and framed. Not examined out of frames. Excellent condition, good colors. Minor wear on frames. Measurements: Silver Pavilion - 15 1/2" tall by 10 1/4" wide (as matted); 20 1/4" tall by 15 1/8" wide by 7/8" deep. Akiba Shrine - 15 1/8" tall by 10 1/4" wide (as matted); 20 1/8" tall by 15 1/8" wide by 7/8" deep. Provenance: many pieces in this collection were purchased by the collector from Toshi Yoshida himself.
