This photograph is inscribed "The Human Liberty Bell / 25000 Officers & Men / at / Camp Dix, New Jersey / General Hugh L. Scott, Com'd'r." on lower right, and "(c) / Moole & Thomas / 915 Medinah Bldg. / Chicago 1918". Camp Dix was founded as a training camp for American soldiers in the First World War (WWI). This photo was taken during the war, most likely as a propaganda image, and was featured in the New York Times in 1918. Minor wear, creasing, and aging, as expected. Framed, frame has loss to veneer. Photo not examined outside of frame. 10" by 13" (opening), 11 1/2" by 14 1/2" (frame).
