Transfer lithograph by the famed American artist James Abbott McNeill Whistler (1834 - 1903). Entitled "La Danseuse: A Study of the Nude", this lithograph was executed around 1891. This lithograph is printed on an incredibly thin and fragile Japanese gampi paper. In this period of his career, Whistler completed multiple prints of nearly nude dancers as studies of the human form in motion. This print was printed on very thin paper in order to attain more detail in the printing process itself. Signed in plate in center left with Whistler's bufferfly monogram. This print was professionally restored in 2013. Print is in good condition overall, with some folding. Print: 10 3/8" by 7 1/4". Unmatted, and professional matting and framed highly recommended for this delicate masterpiece.
