Oil on board painting signed by James King Bonnar (American, 1883 - 1961). Bonnar, a listed artist, studied at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design, and became well-known regionally for his landscapes from around New England. This painting showcases the peaceful and joyful attitude of Bonnar's impressionistic style. In this painting, Bonnar depicts a Greek Revival home as seen from the street. Trees, flowers, and bushes hide portions of the house, and a fence separates the lawn from the street. Bonnar uses thick, visible brushstrokes to build this work, and a lighter palette, certainly influenced by American Impressionists of the early 20th century. Signed "Jas. K. Bonnar" in lower right. The painting is unframed, and looks to be yellowed on its surface. It would benefit from professional cleaning. Minor wear around edges. Measures 14" wide by 12" tall.
