Collection of 8 pieces - coins, medals, and exonumia. Europe, South America, and Middle East, ca. late 18th - early 20th century. 1 Ottoman Empire 40 para copper coin, minted under Sultan Abdulaziz (r.1861 - 1876). Dated AH 1277 (Ca. AD 1861). Better condition, brown with some darkening, some mint luster still present. XF? 1 French First Republic un decime copper coin, dated to An 8 (1799). Good condition. 1 Brazilian Empire 40 reis copper coin, dated 1831 and reign of Pedro I. Originally was an 80 reis coin, but has been counter stamped. Fine condition. 5 medals / commemorative pieces, Germany. One tin medal celebrating the First German Parliament on May 18, 1848, and another celebrated the centennial of the birth of the famed German poet, Friedrich Schiller, in 1859. Three brass medals: one honoring the Grand Duke and Duchess of Hesse, Ernst Ludwig and Victoria, in 1900, one honoring Kaisers Friedrich III and Wilhelm II, and a medal with a Latin inscription, "Ubi bene, ibi patria" ("where you are treated well, there is your homeland" or "Home is where they treat you well").
